Romans 12:13

I recently read a blog post where the author discussed the fact that American Christians do not practice hospitality anymore due to the cost. At first I was disappointed. Then I thought, maybe people just don't practice hospitality because they don't know what it is. Hospitality is defined as
the friendly reception and treatment of guests or strangers. Do think that you need to roll out Martha Stewart style banquets? Sure, you can be hospitable by having a lush banquet, but lots of times it is the small things that show hospitality. Invite a neighbor over for coffee. Take the time to talk to the widow next door. Offer to babysit or make a meal for the struggling mom. This is how we show the world that we care. Over the next few days we are going to look at a few scriptures about hospitality. I hope that you are blessed by it and it encourages you to help those in need.

Lord, open our eyes to see where we can show hospitality to others. Help us to be known for our generosity, kindness, and love. Amen.
